Summary

The processes of fragmentation of woodland habitats and populations are a major factor in the loss of biodiversity. There is an increasing awareness on the importance of maintaining and, if appropriate, restoring, ecological connections within the territory. An analysis is made of the criteria and results of a proposal to create a Network of Ecological Corridors for the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, defining the pattern of its management.
