Summary

This work includes a review of the concept of body image and its main components. Also, mention is made of the alterations thereof, like for example dismorphofobia, vigorexia and the central role nutritional ailments have in a negative body image. Mention is also made of the factors implied in the formation of a negative body image, and the main instruments of evaluation are introduced. A basic perspective of the most effective psychological rules and techniques is also offered.
