Summary

The population of the Basque Country is very interested in being informed it has the greatest press circulation index and the highest percentage of radio listeners in the whole of Spain. It is, however, one of the areas where less television is watched. The basis of the information is the various news items, although the same importance is not attributed to all of these. In radio and television the level of importance is determined by the time that such items are given and their appearance in the summary, whereas in the press such importance is determined by the space and the number of columns occupied in the papers. New technologies have influenced the treatment of information to a large extent.
