Summary

Are classified and analyzed the main investigations that, bibliographically or historically, studied the Printing press in Bilbao, with purpose of demonstrating the scarcity, the dispersion and the heterogeneous quality of the sources, and justify the compilation of a bibliography that describes systematic manner all documents printed in Bilbao in centuries 16th to 19th, according tothe principles of the ´New Bibliography´ and ´Tipobibliografía Española project´.
