Summary
The Federation of Basque Mountaineers arose in 1934, out of a split in the Basque Nationalist Party. Its objetive was the creation of a National Front pro-Independence. As the Civil War broke out, they maintained an hesitant attitude between not participating or fighting for independence. Eventually, they organized two battalions in the Republican band.
