Summary

Although, as a rule, there is no German concept of the Basque Country, there is a certain knowledge thereof. Instead of analysing their knowledge in ethnography, linguistics, etc, the figure of San Inazio and the bombardment of Gernika-Lumo are analyzed. The part of the Route to Santiago that goes through the Basque Country is also mentioned as are writers that made the mores and characteristics of the country known to the rest of the world
