This article examines the influence of the Basque Studies Program of the University of Nevada upon the Basque community of the United States. It is argued that current Basque-American culture reality was in part shaped by the Program and its initiatives. Particular attention is given to the effects of the Basque Book Series of the University of Nevada Press, the study-abroad opportunities that permitted Basque-American students to experience the Basque Country and the Program´s research on the Basque legacy in the New World
