Mariano Luis de Urquijo was a prominent afrancesado (pro-French Spaniard) who participated in Joseph Bonaparte´s government as Minister of State and played a significant political role in defence of the Constitution, the regeneration of Spanish monarchy and the Basque Charters (Fueros).
