This work studies the relevance of the gender systems for the knowledge and
; change of an unequal social organisation. This analysis allows us to accede to the social and cultural construction of the differences between women and men that justify the separation and hierarchy of trajectories and opportunities. It implies an analysis of the institutional framework and therefore certain methodological patterns for the study are pointed out. Also in this text an analysis is made of certain significant changes that are transforming the traditional gender system and the new challenges that are to be confronted.
