The paper examines the impact of the EU´s eastward enlargement on the situation of sub-state entities in the new member states of Central and Eastern Europe. The paper also considers what the incorporation of eight Central and East European countries into the EU may mean for the role of sub-state entities in the new and enlarged EU.
