A biography of Valentín of Olano, who was born in Azkoitia in 1808. He studied law in Salamanca and thereafter was went to Vitoria-Gasteiz where he became the secretary of the Diputation of Alava. In 1840 he pronounced a speech of great importance in the Spanish Parliament in defence of the Fueros (Special Jurisdictions), part of which is transcribed in this article, as are the reactions of Pedro José Pidal and Juan Donoso Cortés
