Summary

The present issue of Vasconia features the minutes of the Conference "Lana Euskal Herrian. Labour in the Basque Country" organised by Eusko Ikaskuntza in Donostia - San Sebastián on 16th and 17th December 1999. Their primary objective was to establish the main aspects of the research underway in this regard. Pere Gabriel?s historiographic reflection aims to recover the social and political interpretations in the analysis of labour and workers. The thirty-one works presented, of the highest levels and notable thematic variety, have been sorted into six sections, that cover from the Middle Ages until the present day, with special attention being paid to structural transformation processes. All the discussions have been included, due to their clear interest. Also collected is the long dialogue maintained between the representatives of Confebask, the Council of Occupational Relations of the Basque Country, the Metal Sector of the Commisiones Obreras trade union in Gipuzkoa, and Mondragón Cooperative Corporation on such fundamental matters as the job flexibility, management co-responsibility and resolution of conflicts in the framework of the new productive and occupational trends.
