Summary

Those who announced the end of the class struggle due to the disappearance of the European socialist countries were misled by wishful thinking. The increase in company competitiveness brings about a hardening of working conditions and thus produces generalised dissatisfaction that sporadicaly breaks out into open conflict. It is true that the recent industrial crisis has modified the structure of the industrial class introducing unemployment and precariousness as an element of presure that makes this type of conflicts more dificult. But conflictivity has moved to other segments of employees and to other sectors submited to presure, like the unemployed, young people who are finding it increasingly dificult to find a job and adequate housing, the retired and pre - retired and smal merchants.
