Summary

Ethnographic view about the fishermen population and what being a fisherman means and the practice of artisanal fishing in communities both on the coast and on the banks of the Magdalena River in the Colombian Caribbean region, with the goal of getting local knowledge ethnography, territorialities, cultural components, struggles and resistances that revitalize the daily life of fishermen in the Caribbean region. The text is organized in two sections: one about riverside fishermen and the other one about littoral fishermen. And presents the components of the cultural heritage, in order to provide knowledge about the reality of fishermen communities and dignify their work as social and politic people which has contributed to the social and identity construction of the region.
