Summary

The Old Town is an emblematic area of Bilbao for its history and great leisure and tourism offer. Through several linguistic walks in this geographical area and more specifically through the streets Bidebarrieta and Posta kalea, it has been verified that the communicative competence written in Basque in the shop windows of shops is barely perceptible. The development of sociolinguistic competence in Basque language has not reached sufficient levels of development to ensure a bilingual service to the citizens of the town.
