Summary

Leptin 167 is an adipokin comprising amino acids. It fulfils important physiological functions as it regulates hunger, the energy balance in the body, the immune system and the reproductive system. At the present time there is a lot of concern about illnesses such as obesity, diabetes mellitus and anorexia, hence the reason for this bibliographic review wishing to transmit the importance of leptin in these illnesses, in order to be able to apply this knowledge to their treatment.
