Summary

As from interviews with many of its protagonists, plus a considerable amount of documentation work, this article analyses the movement of alternative theatre in Alava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Navarre between 1969 and 1984. This research includes the activity of independent groups in its cultural, social, political and economic aspects, while revealing its ideals and contradictions at the same time.
