Summary

In this paper the advances and improvements, which have taken place during the last 30 years in the technology of the steel industry, and their implementation in the steel industry of the Basque Country, are analysed. The technological advances are related in part to the steels making and in part to the ulterior hot and cold working and processing. The future of the steel works in the first world must be based in a sound knowledge of the Physical Metallurgy and the application of the technological innovations
