Summary

The birth of the medieval towns of Biscay (1199-1376), amongst which Bilbao will end up being preponderant, implied a deep change in Bizkaian territory, since that space changed from being a rural and enclosed space to becoming a strongly urbanised land that was receptive to the new social, economic and political currents which were then blazing trails throughout Europe at the end of the Middle Ages.
